Stories to Love

76. Author Carolyn Mackler on mental load and her shift to adult books

Episode 76 of the Stories to Love podcast is here, and my guest is Carolyn Mackler.

Carolyn Mackler is the acclaimed author of the YA novels The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things; Infinite in Between; and The Future of Us, among others. Her award-winning novels have appeared on bestseller lists and been translated into more than twenty-five languages. Carolyn lives in New York City with her husband and two sons. The Wife App is her first novel for adults.

In this episode we discussed her most recent release, an adult debut named THE WIFE APP and her move from writing in the teen and middle grade space to adult fiction. We discussed a meditation class that became the kernel of inspiration, the concept of unpaid labor and mental load, about her deep research into this topic for the Wife App, and social media FOMO.
